JOB TITLE: ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER

SUMMARY: This person will be responsible for ensuring employee and facility environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance at multiple VRC and subsidiary locations. They will be responsible for the compliance and enforcement of EHS
procedures that adhere to various local, state, and federal rules and regulations, as well as various standards and recommendations. This person will be involved in meeting customer requirements for system installations, providing input for
product design, and assisting with permitting demands at new locations and/or for process/equipment changes. The EHS Manager will also serve as a point of contact for customers to determine additional safety training requirements for
installations at their respective locations. This person will work regularly with other departments to effectively communicate safety needs and eliminate hazards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure VRC employee and facility EHS compliance.
- Plan, Develop and implement EHS programs that comply with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as well as standards such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT) and others.
- Answer EHS questionnaires for installation work and onsite services at customer locations
- Provide customers with EHS compliance records as required for installation work.
- Provide system installation input and communicate with customer EHS representatives to establish EHS requirements for installation personnel at customer locations.
- Establish, implement, and track additional EHS training required for VRC personnel that will be working on-site at customer locations.
- Management of the company’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS) access software including maintaining an up-to-date accessible database of all pertinent SDS’s.
- Provide guidance on Dust Hazard Analysis and Hazardous Waste Removal at VRC and with customers, including existing and future installations.
- Manage the implementation and compliance of programs and established practices and procedures such as Respiratory Programs, Job Hazard Analysis, Lock Out Tag Out, 5-S, etc.
- Accident/Incident investigation, reporting, and record keeping.
- Assist in developing cold spray practices in compliance with EHS regulations.
- Research EHS codes, standard, regulations and recommendations.
- Communicate effectively with Safety Committees.
- Conducting regular EHS audits and job/task/project analysis.
- Create and execute studies to monitor and assess employee exposure to health risks, and to measure effectiveness of EHS programs, policies and procedures.
- Create and lead implementation of programs to protect employee health and promote ergonomics.
- Ensure current knowledge on OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DOT regulations, codes, and standards.
- Create entries (purchase request, expense reports, etc.) using the company’s Enterprise Manage System.
- Assess and analyze EHS data, summarizing and compiling reports.

SALARY RANGE: $65,000 – $80,000
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will directly supervise EHS Technician(s)
- Has indirect supervision over off-site EHS Leads with varying EHS experience, education and responsibilities
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, or related field is required
- 3+ years’ experience with environmental permitting, practices and reporting; particularly RCRA, CWA, CAA, and EPCRA is required
- 3+ years’ experience in the interpretation and implementation of different codes, standards, regulations and recommendations in a research and development environment strongly preferred, including but not limited to: OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, UL, etc. is required
- 5+ years’ experience in R&D, Industrial, and/or manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Supervision experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals
- Able to develop, write, format, and communicate policy and procedure
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, to provide and receive information from a variety of internal and external contacts
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel at an advanced level
- Experience using AI tools for development of documents, procedures, and tools.
- Proficient in electronic forms of communication including email, web searching, and data organization
- Experience administering 3rd party software such as learning management or ERP software.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Apply practical knowledge and experience to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Read and interpret business records and statistical reports.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee must be able to see differences in widths and lengths of lines such as those on graphs. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. A job is considered “inside” if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.
