JOB TITLE: COLD SPRAY PROCESS DESIGN ENGINEER (OFF-SITE) (BARKSDALE AFB)

SUMMARY: Design, develop and produce Cold Spray processes and evaluation procedures. Facilitate development and testing of recipes in support of company capabilities. Determine applicable testing regimen to quantify and qualify results of spray operations. Oversee production runs of the spray operation. On occasion supervise experts in cold spray applications. This position will require at least 3 months of training at VRC before relocating to Bossier Parish, Louisiana for a period of no less than 1 year.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility in a safe and satisfactory manner. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the tasks at hand.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Physically relocate to Bossier Parish, Louisiana (Barksdale Air Force Base) for a period of no less than 1 year.
- Manage daily workload and facility operations
- Develop and execute Spray Procedures in accordance with client requirements
- Work with other engineers, clients, and technicians to plan, design, and implement projects and production runs
- Evaluate metallography test data to adjust process parameters to meet client objectives
- Maintain document system that conforms to AS9100D requirements
- Communicate with DOD and commercial clients, fostering working relationships to further VRC interests
- Program robots to perform spray functions
- Operate cold spray machine to execute prescribed spray process with precision
- Use proper procedures and PPE to handle consumable materials that include powdered metals and inert high pressure compressed gases
- Use power tools such as grinders, drills and saws for spray project preparation or finishing
- Use precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and other high precision tools
- Maintain qualifications on essential equipment and processes in accordance with DOD directives

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- Contract extensions past the 1 year may be offered but are not guaranteed.
- Follow-on positions at different locations may be available after the contract period is complete.
- Position requires ability to obtain and maintain access to perform work on military installations and facilities including passing a background check for access to these facilities.
SALARY RANGE: $67,000 – $90,000 per year plus benefit package.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Cold Spray Technician
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering required
- Advanced degree highly desired
- Understanding of robotic systems preferred
- Solid understanding of Metallurgy desired
- 1 year or more of Program Management strongly preferred
- Firm knowledge of 3D modeling software required
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals
- Able to develop, write, format, and communicate policy and procedure
- Write routine business and technical reports, correspondence, business letters, summaries, and reports in English using prescribed format, conform to all rules of punctuation, grammar, and style
- Ability to speak effectively in English before groups such as customers or employees
- Ability to develop and maintain a professional working relationship with all team members
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel at an advanced level
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM and robotics software highly desired
- Proficient in electronic forms of communication including email, web searching, and data organization
REASONING ABILITY:
- Apply common sense understanding to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Use mathematical skills to interpret mechanical and metallurgical findings, financial information, and prepare budgets
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Much of the work will be done in a machine shop type environment with high noise levels, dust, and other hazards associated with machining work. A job is considered “inside” if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.
