JOB TITLE: BUYER
REPORTS TO: MATERIAL RESOURCE PLANNING SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY: This person will be a first point of contact for VRC vendors. They will work with production, administrative staff and materials management to procure and schedule materials and supplies. They will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery and accurate tracking of all purchase orders and expedite as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Purchase supplies and equipment as outlined by other departments and to meet MRP demand
- Address and resolve supplier issues and returns as they arise
- Work within an ERP system
- Maintain procurement files
- Assist in finding new vendors as company needs dictate
- Identify new vendors for cost and quality
- Ability to participate in financial and quality audits
- Ensure a high level of data entry accuracy
- Accurately run departmental reports
- Provide other clerical and administrative support to management as requested

SALARY/WAGE RANGE: $21.00 – $24.00 per hour

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Buying, Administration or Accounting experience preferred
- Two years’ experience in a procurement office environment required
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, newspapers, periodicals, journals, brochures, and sales documents
- Write routine reports, correspondence, inventory summaries, and reports in English using prescribed format, and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
- Ability to speak effectively in English on the phone and in person with vendors
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level
- Knowledge of inventory management software desired
- Proficient in electronic forms of communication including email, web searching, and data organization
- Ability to quickly learn computer applications, such as inventory tracking and management software
REASONING ABILITY:
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Use mathematical skills to interpret financial information and prepare budgets.
- Read and interpret business records and statistical reports.
